A Karamojong Manyatta is a traditional Karamojong home, found in their community. These homes are specially built and decorated, often surrounded by a fence (called a kraal). Manyattas are important for tourism in Uganda, especially for visitors to Kidepo Valley National Park, as most tourists feel their trip is incomplete without seeing a Karamojong homestead

A Manyatta, also called an Ere, is a village made up of several huts, surrounded by thorny sticks for protection.

The entrance is small for people and larger for cattle. Many family members live in one Manyatta, which also serves as a shared space for their livestock

Visiting one of the villages of karamojong it was the best experience in my life by far! Feeling all the vibes of the tribe, and what all these people are going through... Was simply amazing.. The whole thing is totally secure and the guys that run this project are very nice! The lodge that we stay, is one of the best you can find in Uganda with new and clean rooms! Big compliments to the chef also!! Great food!!

If you ever find yourself in Uganda, you must definitely take some time to get to know the people of Karamojong! DNA is not just a chic lodge with excellent cuisine. It is also an organisation urging to raise awareness on the richness and beauty of the traditional culture in the most ethical way and with the highest respect to the people and their needs in everyday life. I feel lucky to have met Paul and the whole team of Destination Nomad Africa and can't wait for my next trip there!

Paul and his team did a perfect job introducing us to the local Karamojong communities and learning and experiencing the ways of living of their people. They also provided for us during the 2-day hike on mount Moroto, making sure we were well fed and could enjoy the beautiful surroundings without care. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks to Paul and his team for providing us with a great local experience. They showed us traditional culture and ways of living, guiding us up mount Moroto and through villages and always with the greatest care and consideration. An absolute recommendation when exploring the more remote but wonderful North-Eastern part of Uganda.

Once in a lifetime experience This is a once in a lifetime experience. We stayed with a kraal overnight and visited a Karamoja village the next day. Paul and Joseph, our guides, were amazing - they explained everything very well and helped us with communicating with the locals.I can't really explain what it was like - you have to come and experience this yourself.

Great trip to Mount Moroto Our guide Paul gave us a half-day trip on lower levels of Mount Moroto. Great experience! The view was fantastic, even if we didn't go up to the top, and we got a glimpse of the living conditions of people living there. Paul is open, super-friendly and well informed. He is also very committed to improving lives of local communities through different initiatives.Tours are organized based on your personal interests at a fair price. Highly recommended!

Once in a lifetime experience among the Karamoja My expedition starting in Moroto was well planned. Joseph, my guide, was solicitous, well informed, and was able to smooth the way when needed. My goal was to get culturally informed of the Karamoja way of life and I had that and more. I visited many communities, a school, and slept overnight with a kraal, what Joseph called a secondary education for your men of the tribe in building skills in caring for the most important cattle, work ethics, and responsibility. I recommend this group with all my heart! Once in a lifetime experience.
